Samana has a lot of small hidden gems which makes it a really special place. You’re alway wondering what could be around the corner, or around the cliff!
The Playa Escondida is such a small treasure, right in the heat of the action in Las Terrenas. But it is deserted most of the time. Few people really know that there is such a beautiful beach in a walkable distance of Las Terrenas.
In fact, Playa Escondida is Spanish for “Hidden beach”. The beach is intimate and curvy so it embraces you. The place feels as if you are on a lonely Caribbean island, no noise, birds in the air, the ocean in front and the background is a small hill with palm trees and some characteristic beach villas. Including a magnificent palapa style villa.
Playa Escondida is easy to reach from Playa Bonita. Most people drive up there and walk the small cliff and through the dense jungle. In minutes paradise awaits you with this laid back and amazing atmosphere. Just reading about it here sounds already weird but find out yourself, in reality, this experience of being there is even better than words can describe.
Bring something to read, lay down on the soft and warm sand, far away to everyone and everything and be just by yourself and just live the moment of quietness and enjoy being there.
